The night of the fans – UEFA Europe League final in Hamburg
25.000 football fans visited Hamburg to join the UEFA Europe League final between Fulham and Atlético Madrid on May 13th and around 100 additional flights arrived since the morning at the Hanseatic airport. Due to the limited number of apron positions the airport had to close one of its two runways where an intermediate parking area had to be arranged for the duration of the game. A historic challenge for all employees of AHS Hamburg started soon after the final whistle, when thousands of fans arrived at the airport to get their flights back home.
